As well as providing membership services to the trading standards profession, TSI also acts as the examining and awarding body for trading standards qualifications. We provide a modern qualification framework which is inclusive of all staff delivering trading standards services, and, when linked to CPPD, aids professional and personal development. The ability to demonstrate your skills, knowledge and competencies are at the heart of the TS qualifications, and any experience you may have gained will also be taken into account.

Candidates can study in many ways, either by gaining an accredited degree and entering the framework at the higher skills and knowledge level, or combining study with paid employment and working through the qualification levels. Entry into the framework is flexible and credit will be given for past qualifications where appropriate.

The TS qualifications are gained both through examinations and portfolio assessment and at the higher level also involve a dissertation and a final assessment. There are four qualifications available and for further information click here.

Students are also encouraged to become members of the Trading Standards Institute and to take advantage of the various services and support available.
