TS Qualifications


The TS qualifications framework provides an umbrella consisting of foundation skills and knowledge, 10 service delivery modules and higher skills and knowledge. All knowledge learning outcomes will be demonstrated through examinations, and all skills learning outcomes will be demonstrated through a portfolio of evidence.

The qualifications are:

Foundation Certificate in Consumer Affairs & Trading Standards
To attain this qualification a student must pass 3 papers demonstrating foundation knowledge and complete their portfolio to evidence attainment of the foundation skills

Module Certificate in Consumer Affairs & Trading Standards
To attain a module certificate a candidate will need to have undertaken examinations to demonstrate their knowledge of that particular module, plus complete the relevant sections in their portfolio to demonstrate the application of that knowledge

Diploma in Consumer Affairs & Trading Standards (DCATS)
To receive a DCATS, students will need to have passed the foundation skills and knowledge elements as well as gaining a minimum of 40 points from the service delivery modules.

Higher Diploma in Consumer Affairs & Trading Standards (HDCATS)
This will be achieved once a candidate has gained the foundation skills & knowledge elements, 40 points from the service delivery modules, passed the higher knowledge examinations and demonstrated the higher skills learning outcomes in their portfolio, submitted and passed a dissertation and submitted themselves to a final assessment panel.
